In United States, each state has its own process for handling state income taxes. Luckily, each state with an income tax also has an online system that lets you check the status of your state tax refund.
What Do You Need to Check on My State Tax Refund?
The most important information is your Social Security number (SSN). If you do not have a SSN, most states allow you to use a few different types of ID. One common type is an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN). If you file a joint return, use whichever ID number appears first on the return.
